Location directly impacts auto insurance rates.Where an insured lives has a huge impact in obtaining affordable auto insurance. For example, clients living in rural America are less likely to file a claim for a stolen car than those living in a moderate city. Most insurance companies consider where you live when quoting policy rates. City residents typically pay more for auto insurance than do rural residents because auto insurance rates/premiums are for the most part, determined by factors associated with the frequency and amount of claim payouts. Cities, in general have much denser populations than the rural areas, so the risk for an accident to occur is much greater in urban areas than it is in rural areas. Because of this, clients are more likely to pay more if they live in the city than if residing in the rural country. As stated, living in an area with higher populations increases the risk of an auto accident. Logically, cities have more residents so they generally have more accidents so the rate for insurance will be higher since there is a higher chance for a claim to be made. Therefore, those clients who live in a rural area of the country are more likely to find more affordable auto insurance premiums. Some neighborhoods also have a higher rate of vehicle thefts, which may result in a higher premium. If the insured lives in a community known to have a high occurrence of theft, vandalism and/or violence the premiums will be much more. Since insurers do not and cannot verify statistics of a particular area every time a client requests an auto insurance quote, insurance companies will group geographic areas into different risk categories and determine rates accordingly. Areas that have fast response Areas that have fast response times, aggressive enforcement of laws, well-designed roads and intersections, and other positive safety services will be considered safer areas than those whose safety services aren't as available, thus affecting premiums. Weather conditions are also location factors that affect auto insurance premiums. If a client resides in an area where snow or other severe weather is a common occurrence, insurance premiums may be higher. Other geographic factors affecting premiums are road conditions that can raise the probability of being involved in an accident while driving, which means the risk for claims is higher. Though many factors are considered when pricing auto insurance premiums, location is an important one that can directly impact what a client pays for auto insurance. |
